THE claws are out for Emmerdale’s Jo Stiles (Roxanne Pallett) and Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward) when the feisty females clash at the soap village’s 500th anniversary pageant.
In an explosive hour-long episode to be shown on May 17, Jo erupts after discovering love rival Katie has stolen her outfit for the beauty contest.
Mischievous Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) gives Katie the costume, telling her it’s a spare; but things soon turn violent when Jo confronts Katie.
The fight spirals out of control in full view of the stunned villagers, including special guest, opera star Katherine Jenkins.
Katie looks to be gaining the upper hand before the girls are pulled apart – but the brawl sparks a domino effect and the pageant descends into chaos.
An Emmerdale spokesperson said: “There’s no love lost between Katie and Jo and the beauty contest is like a tinderbox waiting to ignite. The fight is a thrilling part of the dramatic hour special, which also features the reveal of ‘Who Killed Tom King’.”
Atmosphere
Roxanne added: “Jo can’t believe that Katie has the gall to steal her outfit.
“Both characters want centre stage at the beauty contest so I think the fight is inevitable in such a charged atmosphere.
“Jo will do whatever it takes to get the better of Katie.”
The explosive scenes can be seen in full on Thursday, May 17, ITV1, at 7pm.
Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has revealed that sexy scenes he filmed with co-star Sammy Winward for the soap had to be cut.
Viewers saw Matthew’s character David Metcalfe getting intimate with Katie Sugden last week, but Matthew has admitted that most of the footage ended up on the cutting room floor.
“We really went for it. The scenes were the steamiest I’ve ever done,” Matthew told the Daily Star Sunday. “We were both quite nervous as
they wanted them to be steamy. So we just had to go for it.
“But there were issues about what was allowed to go out at 7pm - so some of the steamier bits had to be cut.”
